If there aren't animals living their own lives and plants living their own lives, and if it were all made so that all other species were simply for the benefit of humans and they were our slaves, then that seems to me that's a world that's dead spiritually...

SchNews ... A lot of groups can come up with theoretical ideas of how the future might look, but these days you can just give concrete examples. People'll pick up on the positive aspects of that and come up with their own kinds of ideas...

South Downs Earth First! ... You're creating stuff, you're living on that edge in the same way that you did at the best play times of childhood. And I think that's nearer to the kind of world we want. Away from work, away from that kind of slavery and death of imagination, and towards a world where the best moments that we have in play are our whole existence...

Reclaim the Streets - JB ... I don't have a vision of the world I want to live in, beyond knowing that it's a world of mutual aid and ecologically free. It's a slogan really. I don't think I have a specific vision of the world that I want to live in. But I know that it's gonna be a diverse one. I'm not interested in any social movements that try and create one way of thinking, that try and create one text, one way of life, one world, one vision of one world. I think there will be many worlds...

The Land is Ours ... What we're talking about really is devolved decision-making, something like the village in the manorial system, that kind of level, where basically you know everybody that you're making decisions for and about. And also that there's some kind of local system of justice as well. These are the kind of positive visions that actually come out when you can get reclaimed bits of land and collectivize them...
